Another CIP-delivery secured by PG

PG Flow Solutions has been awarded a contract by Aibel to provide a chemical injection package for the  Dvalin tie-in to  Heidrun Topside EPCI Project

PG Flow Solutions’ scope of work  is a 8.5 x 3.8 x 3 metre chemical injection package which will be a part of  the new M40 Module to be installed at the Heidrun platform. The contract value is undisclosed.
“The package is technically complex due to very low minimum liquid flow rate, which makes it demanding from both a pump and monitoring perspective. However, our core strength lies in the engineering of advanced integrated liquid flow solutions, and we believe this is what secured us this contract,” says Roy Norum, CEO of PG Flow Solutions.
Dvalin CIP1
All work will be performed  at the company’s main fabrication site in Sande, Vestfold, Norway. PG Flow Solutions will manage the project as a supplier to Aibel’s engineering office in Asker, Norway.
The completed chemical injection package will be delivered to Aibel’s yard in Haugesund, Norway. Delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2018.

“Our ultra-modern Sande facility is ideal for manufacturing, assembly and testing of this type of injection packages for offshore applications, and there is a comprehensive reference list for similar projects over the years,” adds Roy Norum.

Aibel has been awarded the modification assignment to ready the Heidrun platform to receive the production from the Dvalin field (formerly Zidane) in the Norwegian Sea. DEA Norge is the operator of the Dvalin field. At Heidrun, the gas will be partly processed in a new module, before the gas is transported in a new export pipeline to Polarled, going to the Nyhamna onshore gas terminal.

IMO BWTS-ratification is fast approaching:
34.56% by 31.12. 2015

Following the spate of ratifications in November 2015 of the Ballast Water Management (BWM) Convention, IMO and partner IHS Maritime & Trade have been engaged in a process to verify tonnage figures to ascertain whether or not the convention’s final entry-into-force requirement has been met.

Although that process is not yet complete, and will continue for up to three more weeks, IMO is in a position to confirm that the November ratifications did not trigger the convention’s entry into force.

Forty-seven countries have now ratified the convention, substantially more than the 30 required, but their combined fleets comprise, at most, 34.56 per cent of global tonnage, with 35 per cent required for entry into force.

IMO Secretary-General Kitack Lim said, “The recent ratifications have brought the BWM Convention so very close to entry into force. While we cannot predict exactly when that will happen, I would urge countries that have not done so to ratify the BWM Convention as soon as possible so that we can establish a certain date for entry into force, and also so that it is widely accepted when it does.  In particular, those countries with large merchant fleets that have not done so, are requested to accelerate their processes to ratify the Convention.”

Shipowners have been encouraged to install the necessary equipment and establish operational procedures in accordance with IMO regulations and standards, so that the BWM Convention can be implemented rapidly and effectively upon entry into force. Amendments to the Convention, to be implemented after it enters into force, will be considered at the next meeting of the Marine Environment Protection Committee, in April, 2016.

PG participate in futuristic offshore development project with PG-MAPS

The concept of using wind power for offshore oil and gas applications is one step closer to realisation, DNV GL said in a press release on Thursday. WIN WIN, a DNV GL-led joint industry project (JIP), is running with the following seven participants: ExxonMobil, ENI Norge, Nexen Petroleum UK Ltd, Statoil, VNG, PG Flow Solutions, and ORE Catapult.

According to DNV GL, its initial studies showed that a standalone wind-powered water-injection system could become cost competitive for various types of applications, particularly for water injection far from the production platform and when costly retrofitting is not an option. DNV GL launched the WIN WIN JIP to help develop the concept further.

“We’ve had a fantastic response from the industry and are very pleased that seven important players from both industries have joined the JIP. Together, they cover the value chain from wind production and operation, to pump manufacturing, to five oil and gas operators,” says Johan Sandberg, Segment Leader – Floating Wind Turbines at DNV GL and the project sponsor.

“We are very satisfied that DNV GL has taken the initiative to form a JIP, and brought on board several of our peers from the oil and gas industry. The overall concept needs maturing up to a point where it can be considered a viable option in field development studies,” says Hanne Wigum, manager for Statoil’s renewables research group.

DNV GL says that the project is now in the phase where the technical concept is being developed and the technical feasibility assessed in detail. Two of the main challenges being addressed are the off-grid operation of the system and the reservoir’s response to variable injection rates.

“Once the technical hurdles are cleared, the concept’s economic viability will be analysed using relevant and realistic cases provided by the JIP partners. Initial results are promising, and with the operators on board we are able to test the concept on real cases,” Sandberg continues.

“In parallel with finalizing the initial technical and economic assessment of the concept, we are now thinking about the next steps, both looking for other relevant applications of the system and making sure the WIN WIN concept moves from the drawing board to a prototype and actual realization in a project,” he adds.

Cian Conroy, Offshore Wind Sector Lead for ORE Catapult, says: “Recent advancements and trialling of offshore floating wind prototypes, backed by strong research, suggest there is scope for cost effective floating wind power sooner than many people may have previously thought. This project will help to further accelerate the development and commercialization of floating wind turbines as a viable technology.”

The JIP has been up and running since the beginning of the year and is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2016

Change of company name from Ing Per Gjerdrum to PG Flow Solutions

To our clients, suppliers and partners.
We have made the decision to change the business name of our company, and from June 1st, 2015, we will do business under the name PG Flow Solutions AS. The re-branding of the company is tied to our recent change of ownership. Mr. Per Gjerdrum has now retired and is no longer a part of the business, hence changing the company name was a natural step towards a brand name we can keep developing into the future.
Per started the company back in 1982, with the entire share capital coming from the sale of two restored vintage MG cars, engineering talent and a lot of hard work. Per remained the CEO of the company until 2000, when Mr. Roy Norum joined to take over the day to day management as the new CEO, while Per stayed on as the Chairman of the company. When a change of ownership came to happen in 2014, Per choose to exit the company, and to focus on enjoying a well deserved retirement after a long and illustrious career. Both the management and the owners of the company intend to take good care of the company also in the future.
Since 2014, our majority shareholder has been Norvestor, which is a private equity company focusing on developing growth companies in the Nordic region. Norvestor partner Mr. Per-Ola Baalerud has taken the chair seat in PG’s board, and brings extensive industry knowledge and experience to the table, as a former executive in Aker Solutions AS, where he was responsible for acquiring and developing companies. Per-Ola also has extensive operational experience from his time as CEO for Aker Oilfield Services AS and Executive Vice President at Western Bulk ASA.
Roy Norum and Mads Christian Gjerdrum both remain involved in the company, on both the ownership and the management side of the business. The spirit and philosophies of the company that have gotten us to where we are today will continue driving us forward in the future. With new forces on the ownership side, we will aim to evolve the company even further, to be a better partner to you, to develop new technology and to offer more comprehensive products and services to the market.
Since 1982, PG has evolved from being a mostly domestic reseller of pumps and related equipment to becoming a worldwide market leader on engineered solutions for flow handling applications across all continents, and many industries. Our focus has always been on the oil & gas-related markets, and our focus shall remain as such. Even so, we are confident that there is a lot of room for expansion and development both for our company and for the industry in general, and we are excited by the future we are facing.
From a practical point of view, only positives will come of this for our clients, suppliers and partners. We are working towards improving our business efficiency, including merging our subsidiaries PG Hydraulics and PG Construction into PG, and to further extend out product ranges, geographical reach and our industry expertise. We believe PG will be a great partner for everyone we do business with for the future.
Our digital communications channels will be centralized at, and all employees will be reachable to similar e-mail addresses. Of course, all existing lines of communication will also remain functional.
